Reflecting the expansive and interdisciplinary nature of Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta and LAUFEN’s famed ILBAGNOALESSI collection is a collaboration that merges the two through visual spatial scenes. We spoke to Anne-Rachel Schiffmann, Discipline Director of Snøhetta, to learn more.

Snøhetta Sees ILBAGNOALESSI

To celebrate the release of the new ILBAGNOALESSI, LAUFEN commissioned Snøhetta with the creation of artwork based around the iconic design collection. Known for a transdisciplinary approach which fuses architecture with art and other design disciplines, the famed Norwegian architecture studio developed five imaginative compositions that depict the collection in fantastic settings, amongst unlikely architecture and majestic landscapes.

Through visions that play with the idea of movement, time and proportions, the five images capture the experience of diving into water and emerging in a continuous movement, triggering a connection between the soft curved geometry of LAUFEN ceramic fixtures and the surrounding natural setting. A swan recurs across images, its graceful form a reference to the elegant design language that characterises the collection; while also challenging the viewer’s perception of beauty, design and art.

In 2022, LAUFEN presented the evolution of ILBAGNOALESSI. Together with Italian designer Stefano Giovannoni, LAUFEN carefully reshaped one of its most successful collections. Thanks to the use of LAUFEN’s patented material Saphirkeramik, the collection’s shapes are lighter and thinner while providing exceptional hardness. Following LAUFEN’s ambition to offer complete and harmonious bathroom solutions, ILBAGNOALESSI was extended with carefully crafted furnishing elements, state of the art bathroom technology and comes in new finishes and colors.
